If you've landed here, you likely are a parent or caregiver of a teen who could use some extra support.  I understand the teen years are not exactly a carefree time in life for your child or you.  I often connect with parents hoping to enroll their teens in counseling because they feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and stuck. Their kids won't talk to them, are constantly on their phones, struggling with peers and school or may be using a substance to cope or fit in. As a parent, you feel as though you've exhausted all efforts to help. At the same time, your teen might feel misunderstood and unwilling to talk about their challenges. That is where a neutral party and therapist can really support the relationship. In other words, if they are not talking to you, allow them the opportunity to talk to me! Equine or horse-assisted therapy is the opposite of what you might envision traditional talk therapy to be and that is exactly why some clients prefer it. This type of therapy involves four active participants: the client, myself (therapist), an equine specialist, and horse. The path towards healing involves the support of a team. This type of intervention, applying Natural Lifemanship principles, involves developing a secure connection and relationship with a horse and applying this practice to people relations in our everyday lives.  If you or your child are interested in stepping outside the counseling room and into a pasture in efforts to create change, let's talk.
